Introduction to Fly Fishing 101 - 4/18, 4/21, 5/3

Join us for hands-on learning and an introduction to fly fishing! All HRGC members and their guests are welcome to come and learn, no matter your experience level.

If you have your own fly fishing equipment, please bring it. If not, we'll have several rods and equipment set up for you to use.

HRGC Spring Fishing Derby - Saturday 4/25

Come join us for our Spring Fishing Derby Saturday 4/25 from 7AM to noon. Registration opens at 6:30AM. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!

Cash only event. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase. 50/50 raffle as well.

Adults $20 entry fee, children 15 & under $10 entry fee. One rod per person with a catch limit of 3 trout. One re-entry/rebuy allowed at same cost with a total of 6 trout.

Two separate prize pools for adults and kids. For adults, 50% of entry fees to be divided into 3 places of largest fish. Kids will be the same but divided into 5 places.

HRGC Trap League 2026 - Starts Tuesday 5/5 Public Is Welcome!

Trap League will run Tuesday evenings starting on Tuesday May 5, 2026 and will run for 8 weeks ending June 23, 2026.

Cost is $60.00 payable in full at registration. Sign up/registration and more information available at the Trap House. Each week will start about 5:30PM, no late attendees will be able to sign in after 6PM.

For HRGC members, each squad will cost $5.00 ($10.00 per evening) and non-members will cost $5.50 ($11.00 total). Limit for the number of participants is 25.

Reminder of Trap Shooting Rules

Someone has damaged our trap screens, as they were shot through with a slug or rifle while the screens were down. This caused damage to multiple screens. The screens are necessary for safety. Replacement of these screens will be expensive. If you see anyone shooting at the screens, please report it.

Also, please remember, the trap range facing the screens is for sanctioned trap shoots. Please us the old trap field close to the trap house if you are using your own equipment.

Important Notes:

If paying in person, please only make payments directly to a Membership Committee member. Do not leave payments—especially cash—with anyone else, as we cannot ensure they will be properly processed.
The Membership Committee can only accept membership dues. We are not able to process other payments, such as UBC fees, camping fees, target access fees, etc.
For check payments, please be aware that it may take a few weeks for your check to clear. Deposits are made once per month by the treasurer.
As a reminder, we are all volunteers with families, jobs, and other commitments. Please do not attempt to pay your dues during social events, such as Friday nights at the bar—we will not be able to process your payment at those times.

Friday Night Trap is back! We are starting back up Trap on Friday evenings. Runs on the 2nd & 4th Friday night of each month, starting at 6PM.

Pistol House Update - New Shed B Key Card Access for Target Stands

We have installed a key card access on Shed B to access Target Stands!

First and foremost, we'd like to thank Mark Corriveau for installing the new RFID reader on Pistol Shed B. With this new system, Pistol will still be selling access to the shed for the target program and we will be able to easily manage the pistol shed access electronically. This will be an effective way to enable your key card to enter the pistol house and now the target shed. We also added all the people who have already paid into the key card access for shed B. If you have issues getting into the shed, please send Zach Martins, Pistol Co-Chair, a message and he will address the issue.

Campground and Racetrack Gates Reminder

Outdoor Target Range Reminder

It has been brought to our attention that someone is shooting broadheads at the outdoor targets. This is not allowed at the Club as the targets are not made for broadheads.

Massachusetts HD.4420

For those of you who are not aware, Massachusetts politicians put forth HD 4420, “an act modernizing firearm laws.” This massive piece of legislation re-writes gun laws in the Commonwealth and imposes unprecedented gun-control. This far overreaching bill has created a massive public outcry from gun-owners and civil rights groups throughout Massachusetts.

The below bullet points are just some of the numerous provisions anti-gun politicians are proposing in this new bill:

• Mandates registration of all guns and feeding devices
• Mandates reporting of any modifications or new parts to a gun
• Mandates serializing all firearm parts
• Bans anyone under 21 from acquiring or carrying any semi-automatic rifle or shotgun
• Bans anyone under 15 taking part in shooting sports and training
•Bans all federally legally tax-stamped automatic firearms
• Gun bans on possessing any gun, loaded, or unloaded at any private property unless the owner has provided express consent or has posted signage allowing firearms on their property

Despite politicians hoping to quickly ram this legislation through, they have hit a procedural snag: lawmakers cannot agree which committee should be assigned to this terrible bill. This procedural issue will likely force them to wait until later this year to hold a hearing on the bill.

While this issue will likely slow down the bill’s progress, it is critical to remain in constant contact with lawmakers and request that they oppose this bill. Please become educated and spread the word to your family, friends and neighbors as this proposed bill is a direct infringement of our 2nd amendment. https://www.goal.org/gunban We must voice our concerns regarding HD 4420!
